HB Exclusive: Ranson named HP Hotels CEO

Hotel management company HP Hotels has promoted Kerry V. Ranson, formerly the firm’s chief development officer, to CEO.

In his new role, Ranson will continue to lead the company’s strategic vision to grow and further diversify its third-party property and asset management portfolio, as well as its array of advisory services. He is also responsible for managing and helping develop the firm’s executive leadership team; working closely with the HP Hotels’ advisory committee; and serve as HP Hotels’ liaison to brand partners and industry groups.

Ranson has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including having served as chairman of the board of the IHG Owners Association. He was one of the cofounders of HP Hotels and was instrumental in building an initial six-property portfolio, which subsequently grew to include more than 40 hotels in 16 states. He returned to HP Hotels as the company’s chief development officer in 2016 after leaving for five years to pursue other interests.

“I’m thrilled to take on this role in support of HP Hotels’ investors, partners, team and the owners that we represent,” Ranson said “We are emerging from one of the greatest crises our industry has ever faced with a sense of accomplishment and confidence in our abilities and the contribution that hospitality makes to the greater economy. We look forward to the days ahead.”

Added Mike Hines, chair, HP Hotels, “I’m extremely pleased that Kerry will be assuming the responsibilities of chief executive officer. He is one of HP Hotels’ founding partners, a born leader and a valued mentor to our management team. A former chairman of the IHG Owner’s Association and widely respected in the industry, Kerry relates extremely well to owners and the brands, as well as team members at the property level. He is hands-on in everything he tackles.”
