NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel Business takes a look at the spate of recent hotel openings in the U.S. Here’s a look at four of them:
The Frederick Hotel
Triumph Hotels, a collection of urban Manhattan hotels, introduces a newly remodeled and reimagined Frederick Hotel in Tribeca, offering 130 fully redesigned guestrooms, a new lobby, and the addition of a three-story Serafina Italian restaurant. Soon to open this winter is a lobby lounge and specialty cocktail bar constructed from reclaimed bricks found in the hotel’s historic vault.
“With the opening of The Frederick Hotel, Triumph Hotels begins our transition to an approachable lifestyle brand,” said Gerald Barad, co-owner. “The Frederick Hotel reflects the brand’s reverence for the history of New York City, and just like the city itself, we continue to evolve to be relevant, interesting and fun.”
Sylvia Zofio, principal of SZ Projects, designed the new lobby and guestrooms. Zofio aimed to express the building’s history through eclectic design elements from different eras, creating a mix of old and new. Lower East Side branding agency Rivington Design House developed the logo and consulted on the hotel’s interior design.
Best Western Hotels & Resorts’ suburban boutique hotel brand, Glo, will soon make its debut in Asheville, NC. Construction of Glo Asheville is officially underway, and upon completion, the hotel will be the first of its kind to open in the state and will be a reflection of Best Western’s reimagined brand identity.
Located at 509 Tunnel Rd., Glo Asheville will have 72 guestrooms, a fitness center, an indoor pool, a breakfast area, and a lobby with modern finishes accented with bold pops of color. Designed with millennials’ expectations in mind, there’s the addition of digital keys, a digital concierge, and a communal workspace.

The Omni Frisco Hotel, designed by global architecture firm Gensler and interior architect Wilson Associates, has opened in Frisco, TX. The 16-story luxury hotel, the newest property in the Omni Hotels & Resorts portfolio, has 300 guestrooms and distinctive amenities, including a fourth-floor rooftop pool and viewing deck overlooking the plaza.
The hotel’s meeting space includes a 13,000-sq.-ft. grand ballroom, which connects directly to the Ford Center stadium and allows the flow of foot traffic to remain inside the buildings. A lounge, lobby bar and Neighborhood Services restaurant on the first floor were all designed as an indoor/outdoor extension of the plaza.
