WASHINGTON—For the second year, Crecent Hotels & Resorts’ hotels here are coming together to help local children in need through the Toys for Tots program.
Fifteen hotels, including flags such as Hyatt, Hilton, Westin, Sheraton, Cambria, Holiday Inn, Wingate, Best Western, are working to collect toys to distribute to children during the holiday season.
All 15 hotels are managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, which manages more than 100 hotels throughout North America.
“As our company continues to grow in the Washington, DC, area, we feel it is important to give back to our local community,” said Tim Bowes, VP/sales and marketing.
Last year more than 1,300 toys were collected.
“The armed forces do so much for us every day, we wanted to align our resources to help them with such a worthy cause,” added Bowes. “We are proud to see so many of our guests and associates have already purchased toys and donated them. We felt the mission of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas, really spoke to us.”
“It is remarkable to see how our guests have contributed,” said Harold Bassler, general manager of the Hilton Crystal City at Washington Regan National Airport. “They come back to the hotel after a long day of work or play with hands full of toys for our bins. We have also reached out to our clients and they have been extremely responsive. It’s very touching to see clients take time out of their busy schedules to bring over toys.”
“We have connected with local businesses to make them aware that we are collecting toys again this year,” said Tim Bailey, GM of the Sheraton Reston Hotel and the adjacent Westin Reston Heights. “The response has been wonderful.”
