PISCATAWAY, NJ—Christopher Akoury has been appointed general manager of the 221-unit Embassy Suites Piscataway-Somerset, located on the border of the metro New York suburban bedroom communities of Piscataway and Somerset, NJ.
Akoury will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of this 221-unit, all suites hotel situated in north-central New Jersey which is accessible to the state’s major highways and in close proximity to Garden State Exhibition Center and Rutgers University.
“Chris’ familiarity and knowledge of the suburban New Jersey area, along with his strong leadership and managerial skills, will play an integral role in continuing to ensure the hotel’s development and success in this key market,” stated Ted Ratcliff, SVP, operations, eastern North America, Hilton Worldwide. “His experience in food and beverage management coupled with his solid operational and sales/marketing expertise makes for a winning combination that will serve the hotel well.”
Akoury spent the last eight years in various managerial positions at the 274-unit Embassy Suites hotel in Parsippany. As director of hotel operations, he also acted as the interim general manager last summer overseeing the day-to-day hotel operations and sales efforts.
In addition, he also implemented new programs, to help increase revenue, and restructured the front desk and food and beverage management teams to drive the guest experience and increase F&B profit through departmental synergies. From 2006 to 2010, based at the Embassy Suites Parsippany, Akoury served as the cluster director of food and beverage advising Hilton’s Corporate owned/managed hotels in New Jersey ensuring that F&B departments were in full compliance with corporate guidelines and procedures.
