Choice to Develop Cambria in Austin, TX

ROCKVILLE, MD—Choice Hotels International Inc. has signed an agreement with Cloud Nine Hospitality LLC to develop a Cambria hotel in Austin, TX. The four-story, 134-room Cambria property will be located at the corner of E. Ben White Blvd. and E. Riverside Dr.

Expected to open in 2019, the Cambria Hotel Austin Airport is near Austin Bergstrom International and close to downtown. Often referred to as “Silicon Hills,” the city has numerous tech company operations, such as 3M, Apple, Google, Facebook, Dell and Silicon Laboratories.

“Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and an ideal market for the Cambria brand. As part of our aggressive growth strategy, we’ve been targeting both state capital and large university markets, and Austin benefits from being both. We like the stability, higher RevPAR, and consistent room night demand these markets typically deliver. In addition to the state capital and The University of Texas, Austin boasts a booming tech sector, thriving music scene, and several annual events, which make it a popular destination for both business and leisure travelers,” said Mark Shalala, VP, development, upscale brands at Choice Hotels. “The Cambria Hotel Austin Airport is an important next stop for the brand as we continue to expand in key markets across the country, especially in Texas. We already have three properties open in Texas, located in Plano, Southlake and McAllen, with two more projects currently under construction in downtown Dallas and Richardson, and six additional projects under development in Waco, downtown Houston, Houston Airport, downtown San Antonio, Shenandoah/the Woodlands and Galveston.”

The new hotel will have meeting space, an outdoor pool and spa, and fitness center. The property will also feature contemporary onsite dining, serving a menu consisting of local specialties, liquor, wine, and local craft beers, as well as grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, and a barista bar.
