Carlson, Rezidor Make Partnership Official With New Name, Logo

MINNEAPOLIS—Global hospitality and travel company Carlson and its long-time European partner The Rezidor Hotel Group will now do business as The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
Thorsten Kirschke, Carlson’s COO, president of The Americas, told HOTEL BUSINESS® the new name is the “next natural step after the partnership,” adding, “it’s a logical consequence of a long history and it probably was expected by the industry.”
While the legal status and ownership structure of Carlson and Rezidor remain the same, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group will pursue the global alignment and management of its brands, the ambitious development of its global revenue management engines, global purchasing opportunities and people development, on a global basis, according to the company.
Carlson, which is a privately-held company, is a majority stockholder in Brussels-based Rezidor, owning 50.03% of its publicly-traded shares. The companies first partnered together 17 years ago when SAS became the master licensee for the Radisson brand in Europe and the Middle East.
Kirschke further added, “it’s a great step going to the market as one and promoting our business under the same name.”
A global steering committee has been established to oversee the development of The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and it is co-chaired by Carlson president and CEO Hubert Joly and Rezidor president and CEO Kurt Ritter. As a result of formally coming together, The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group now has a portfolio of more than 1,300 hotels, making it the ninth largest hospitality company in the world.
The new website,, will launch Feb. 1.
