Bass Global Investors Conference To Focus On ?Driving Revenue, Driving Results?

ATLANTA? The 1999 Bass Hotels & Resorts Global Investors Conference is set to be held at the Bellagio Resort hotel and Las Vegas Convention Center from Oct. 18-20. The theme of the conference, which is expected to draw more than 3,000 delegates from 90 countries and territories, is ?Driving Revenue, Driving Results.? The name of the event has changed; it was previously referred to as the company?s Worldwide Conference. Another major shift at the conference this year will be the introduction of Regional Sessions to emphasize Bass? shift from brand management to regional management. Leading the sessions will be John Sweetwood, president/Midscale Hotel Group North America; Tom Arasi, president/Bass Hotels & Resorts, The Americas; David Bland, managing director/ Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Richard Hartman, managing director for the Asia Pacific region. The General Session will include presentations from Bass Hotels & Resorts Chairman/CEO Tom Oliver; Chairman of Bass PLC Sir Ian Prosser; Chief Marketing Officer/Managing Director/Global Strategy for Bass Hotels & Resorts Ravi Saligram; and incoming IAHI President Tim Worthington. Bass said Oliver in his welcoming speech will stress the conference?s goal of identifying opportunities to deliver the required return on investments and that Saligram will discuss the role of each of the brands in the Bass portfolio. Saligram will also lay out plans to globally unite the brands and detail strategies for positioning Holiday Inn in the global market. He will also outline how the Inter-Continental brand is moving into the global, upscale segment. Plans are for Worthington to spell out the IAHI?s priorities for 2000. Bass has also tapped bestselling U.K. novelist Lord Jeffrey Archer to speak at the General Session. Bass will be well positioned to relay its global plans to its audience; in July it established a new global sales organization within its strategic services division. Leading the way on the new team is Michael Prager, senior vp/sales and revenue planning. Prager is responsible for establishing a single sales organization to ensure clients have ease of access to all brands within the group through one team. Reporting to Prager are three regional sales vice presidents responsible for corporate sales management and business planning within their respective areas around the world. Allan Kane is vp/regional sales for the Americas region. He has spent 10 years with Bass Hotels & Resorts and three years with Inter-Continental, most recently holding the position of area vp/sales, Americas for Inter-Continental. Ann Shutte is vp/regional sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Most recently, Shutte was director of corporate and agency sales for Europe for Bass Hotels & Resorts. She will be based in the Bass Hotels & Resorts offices in London. Kevin Croley is vp/regional sales for Asia Pacific for Bass Hotels & Resorts and will be based in the company?s Singapore offices. Prior to his new role, Croley was with Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts since 1993 as vp/sales – Asia Pacific and vp/marketing for the Asia Pacific region.
