Airbnb Adds More Than One Million Listings

NATIONAL REPORT—Airbnb recently released new data regarding its global growth.

Between July 1, 2018 and May 15, 2019, the home-sharing platform added more than one million listings, and there are more than six million Airbnb listings around the world. Airbnb listings are available in 100,000 cities around the world.

According to the company, no one city accounts for more than 1% of its listings worldwide. Less than 3% of all active listings are in New York City, London, and Paris. Five years ago, over 10% of all active listings were in those three markets.

The company has touted its significant share of unique and distinctive listings. As of May 15, 2019, there are over 18,000 tiny houses listed on Airbnb, over 4,700 castles, and over 2,600 tree houses.

In addition, Airbnb has gleaned its data to offer key insights regarding destinations that are increasingly popular with summer travelers. Below are some of the top trending destinations with Airbnb guests for the summer based on percentage growth in bookings over the same time last year.

  • Matsudo, Japan (476%)
  • Marigot, St. Martin (467%)
  • Wuhan, China (454%)
  • Dorado, Puerto Rico (449%)
  • Vieques, Puerto Rico (425%)
