A Spate of Openings in the South

NATIONAL REPORT—For travelers seeking a dose of Southern Hospitality, there are plenty of new hotel options from Marriott, Cambria, Hilton and others. Here’s a look at what’s now open in the South:

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Opens Beachfront Property in Florida

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Panama City Beach, FL, is now open. The 200­-suite beachfront hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by SSPCB LLC and managed by Innisfree Hotels Inc. of Gulf Breeze, FL.

Accommodations include extra space with suites larger than a typical hotel room, according to the brand. Suites offer a pullout sofa bed, a desk, mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. There’s also a variety of bunk ­beds and suites with connecting doors; beachfront rooms offer balconies with two chairs and a table.

Cambria Debuts Second Location in Charleston, SC

The Cambria Hotels brand continued its expansion in the Palmetto State with the opening of the Cambria Hotel Charleston Riverview. Inspiration for the 126-room property was drawn from Charleston, SC’s heritage, coastal roots and hospitality.

Among the design-forward highlights are views of the nearby Ashley River; contemporary guestrooms, complete with modern fixtures, abundant lighting, and plush bedding; spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors; The Ripley Grill, offering a contemporary take on regional favorites; outdoor pool, terrace and fire pits; locally inspired artwork; and more.

Now Open: Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Atlanta Decatur/Emory

Vision Hospitality Group Inc. opened the six-story Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Atlanta Decatur/Emory, which is one of 11 Vision hotels either in development or in operation in Atlanta.

The 145-room hotel has a contemporary design incorporating cool, neutral tones and caters to travelers with value-added amenities such as an indoor saltwater swimming pool, meeting space, a 24-hour business center and a fitness center.

Sonesta to Add Second Hotel in New Orleans

Sonesta revealed plans for a second New Orleans property—Sonesta ES Suites New Orleans, a new extended-stay hotel planned to open at the end of this year.

Accommodations will include 190 guestrooms, including penthouse, two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio suites. An outdoor terrace will sit on the building’s third floor, offering communal yard space, seating areas and BBQ grills as well as a hot tub and lounge chairs. The property will be located adjacent to the $3.5-billion BioDistrict and less than three blocks from the French Quarter.

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Opens in Byram, MS

The Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Byram/Jackson South, MS has opened, offering a fresh, new look and feel following an extensive renovation to the lobby, breakfast area, guestrooms and amenities.

Amenities include a 24­-hour business center, fitness center, indoor pool, complimentary parking and free WiFi. Additionally, the hotel serves a free, hot breakfast in the lobby every morning along with complimentary coffee and cookies throughout the day.

TownePlace Suites Opens in Owensboro, KY

The new hotel, located at 3365 Hayden Rd., is owned by Owensboro Hotel Partners LLC and managed by Superhost Hospitality of Naperville, IL. Among the on-property amenities is a floor-­to-­ceiling TowneMap, featuring places to eat, play and explore.

Residence Inn to Open in Decatur, AL

The 108­-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Decatur, AL is scheduled to open on July 9, with an upscale, stylish decor. Located at 1213 Courtyard Circle, the all­-suite hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Yedla Management Company of Huntsville, AL. Accommodations will include studio, one­-bedroom and two­-bedroom suites.
