A Look At East Coast Openings

NATIONAL REPORT—Brands are expanding along the East Coast. With new sustainable offerings and gaming destinations in upstate New York to openings in downtown Miami, here’s some openings to know:

Sustainable Hotel Opens in Upstate NY

Lendlease and IHG Army Hotels celebrated the grand opening of the new Candlewood Suites hotel on Fort Drum in upstate New York, the second mid-sized hotel in the country constructed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The hotel’s ribbon cutting event highlighted the partnership between the United States Army, Lendlease and IHG Army Hotels.

Made of several layers of pressed lumber board stacked in alternating directions, CLT offers builders maximized strength and durability with added sustainability and conservation benefits. The new hotel incorporates CLT for the hotel’s floors, roof, exterior walls, shaft walls and select interior walls. Lendlease currently has five additional hotels in different phases of design and construction, three of which will be constructed using CLT.

The more-than-65,000-sq.-ft. structure includes 99 all-suite rooms equipped with full-sized kitchens and large work areas and outdoor space.

The Catskills Adds to Lodging Offerings in Monticello, NY

Resorts World Catskills has revealed plans to open the integrated campus destination’s second hospitality complex. The Alder, a new 101-room lifestyle hotel, will offer guests a new way to stay and play in the Catskill Mountains. The Alder is now taking reservations and will officially open in December.

This new hotel will include retail, entertainment and food and beverage options throughout. The Alder will offer an extension of the existing destination resort campus, providing guests full access to the services and amenities of Resorts World Catskills including 100,000 sq. ft. of gaming space, 10 dining experiences and the Crystal Life Spa. Guests of The Alder will also have full access to the indoor pool and fitness center within the Resorts World Catskills hotel.

The destination resort at which Resorts World Catskills is located will continue its expansion in 2019 with the addition of two new offerings, The Kartrite Hotel and Indoor Waterpark and a Rees Jones-redesigned golf course.

Residence Inn Expands in Stamford, CT

The 156-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Stamford, CT, is now open. The hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by UC Funds and managed by Urgo Hotels & Resorts of Bethesda, MD.

The Residence Inn Stamford Downtown has functional public spaces, a grocery delivery service, complimentary WiFi, 24-hour on-site food and beverage market, valet parking, dry cleaning services and on-site guest laundry room. The hotel also maintains 2,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, an indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool spa and a fitness center.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Opens Near Miami Attractions

The 133-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Doral, FL, is scheduled to open Nov. 29 with new decor. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Miami Airport West/Doral will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Baywood Hotels of Columbia, MD, and is located close to Miami International Airport and downtown Miami.

Hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, valet laundry service and complimentary WiFi, as well as fax and copy services.

Country Inn & Suites Comes to Erie, PA

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson has opened the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Erie, PA. The newly renovated hotel has the brand’s latest modern design with updated interiors and guest areas.

The hotel has 88 guestrooms and suites. Additionally, guests have access to an on-site fitness center, 24-hour business center, an indoor pool and hot tub, along with complimentary parking and free WiFi.
