Openings Abroad: A Design-Led Hotel in Israel; More…

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—A new design-focused hotel has opened in Tel Aviv, Israel, the first of a new brand, and is among three new openings worldwide.

The Dave

Brown Hotels has opened The Dave in Tel Aviv, Israel, the first property in a new brand of affordable urban hotels.

This new line of properties, referred to en masse as “The Sons of a Brown,” will aim to diversify the boutique hotel brand’s offerings by providing more accessible accommodations for the young urban traveler, according to the company.

The 35-room hotel was designed by Israeli designer Agnon Granot. The five-story hotel features a 1970s aesthetic, with each room housing its own eclectic assortment of flea market finds. Color is used without caution throughout the Jewel box-like hotel; every door is a different hue and the lobby is crimson. Vintage prints hang on the wall and funky antiques fill the spaces. Residents of the fifth-floor deluxe suite sleep in a California King bed with a velvet frame that plays music through the headboard.

The rooftop offers guests a Jacuzzi tub and a spa treatment room. At lobby level, guests can convene in “The Yard,” an urban courtyard filled with antique seating.

Hilton Shenyang

The recently opened Hilton Shenyang has 329 guestrooms and three restaurants.

The hotel’s design draws on the historic and cultural heritage of Shenyang, which is considered the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty, and has served as the imperial capital for two emperors. Traditional Chinese elements, such as detailed silk paintings and the customary incorporation of metal and marble, are smoothly integrated with modern conveniences and aesthetics.

The hotel offers a grand ballroom, as well as seven function rooms, comprising nearly 17,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space.

Dining options include The Feast, designed with an open kitchen for casual all-day dining and featuring an assortment of international fare; Mukden, serving Liaoning and Cantonese cuisines in 12 private dining rooms and an open space; and Song, which offers both grab-and-go dining and tea, coffee, cocktails, sweets and light fare.

The hotel is owned by Shimao Group Co. Ltd and managed by Hilton.

Nikki Beach Barbados

Nikki Beach Barbados is the first luxury beach club property in the island nation, according to the company, and sits on 1.4 acres of beachfront.

The resort includes the signature Nikki Beach look and feel, featuring a design of all white with wood accents. The designs highlight stone elements sourced from the region, as well as Caribbean features selected by developer Jada Group.

The location includes a restaurant, pool and beach access with oceanfront seating for up to 200 guests. The pool features a swim-up octagon wet bar.
