INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Two brands have recently made their Parisian debut, and one more is on the way.
Room Mate Hotels
Room Mate Hotels, the international chain founded by entrepreneur Kike Sarasola, keeps growing with the inauguration of its first hotel in France, Room Mate Alain. With this opening, the company continues with its ambitious expansion plan. To the 25 existing hotels, the chain will add 11 new signed projects, doubling its size from 1,800 to 3,600 rooms in the next 18 months.
Located in one of the most elegant Parisian neighborhoods, between La Défense, Porte Maillot, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, Room Mate Alain, created by the renowned interior designer Lorenzo Castillo, offers a cocktail bar on its ground floor, Le Bar d’Alain; a fitness center; and a fully-equipped spa dedicated to well-being which includes a hammam and a complete treatment menu available upon request.
The interior designer and antique expert Lorenzo Castillo has created an elegant ambiance that focuses on details. Castillo was inspired by the story of Coco Chanel, who spent the last years of her life living in a hotel in Paris.
Radisson Hospitality AB, part of Radisson Hotel Group, signed its first Radisson Collection hotel in France, in the La Défense business area of Paris. The Radisson Collection Hotel & Suites, Paris La Défense will bring the group’s portfolio in the country to 17 hotels and more than 3,000 rooms in operation or under development.
Situated in the heart of France’s business district, the Radisson Collection Hotel & Suites, Paris La Défense will offer architecture designed by Christian de Portzamparc and interior design by Jean-Philippe Nuel. Set between the famous Grande Arche and CNIT building, the hotel will be located in the Sisters Towers, a new development by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
The hotel will feature 309 rooms and apartments, a lobby bar and all-day dining restaurant, the SkyBar and Restaurant located on the 26th floor, a fully equipped fitness center, a spa, an indoor infinity pool on the top floor of the hotel, and meetings and events facilities.
The Radisson Collection Hotel & Suites Paris La Défense will be operated by Radisson Hospitality under an International Management Agreement.
Innside by Melia
Meliá Hotels International, Spain’s largest hotel brand, has unveiled the new Innside Charles de Gaulle located at Paris’ international airport. The 266-room and 10-loft hotel has been developed by Parisian architects SCAU, whilst renowned French designer Jean-Philippe Nuel has created the interior utilizing natural, raw materials such as wood and concrete throughout. The property’s open-plan invokes feelings of freedom, echoed in the printed Acrobats on staff’s uniforms created by French artist Sabrina Chess, according to the company.
The lounge features a contemporary glass bar, with mixologists on hand to prepare classic cocktails, such as the bourbon and cherry combination “Catch Me”. Guests can also enjoy DJ sets every Thursday – Sunday nights, whether they are relaxing in the hotel or heading out to experience the ‘City of Light’.
Visitors with business in mind can let their imagination run wild in one of four meeting rooms, named “Big Ideas Spaces”. Designed to inspire creativity, collaboration and positivity, these meeting rooms feature ping-pong tables, breakout areas, complimentary snacks and the largest of the four offers panoramic views of the Concorde and the airport.
Rooms are contemporary with white furnishings, featuring amenities including bathrobes and slippers, as well as a luxurious coffee machine and complimentary minibar.
The restaurant, The Olivine, stays true to Meliá Hotels International’s Spanish roots, showcasing the best of Mediterranean fare alongside classic French cuisine, while the 24-hour gym offers InFit classes and is fully equipped with the latest fitness machines, supported by virtual fitness classes, powered by Wexer.
