TORONTO—Greg Pirkle has been appointed general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
A 25-year veteran of Four Seasons, Pirkle is currently general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh at Kingdom Centre. In April, Pirkle will make the transition from Riyadh to Bahrain to lead the pre-opening team as the hotel prepares to open its doors in the last quarter of 2014.
Pirkle, a native of New Jersey, has worked at several Four Seasons properties over the years including Four Seasons Resort Hualālai at Historic Ka’ūpūlehu, Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, The Pierre New York (formerly a Four Seasons Hotel), Four Seasons Hotel Boston and Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Malaysia.
Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is part of the larger Bahrain Bay master planned development situated in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. The master plan project includes the creation of a new waterfront district known as Bahrain Bay, designed to include mixed-use neighborhoods of residential, commercial and retail.
Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay will be the focal point of the development, occupying the entire central island. The H-shaped tower featuring a two-story sky bridge that was designed by architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who also designed the master plan for the wider Bahrain Bay development. With interiors designed by design firm Pierre-Yves Rochon, the hotel reflects elements drawn from local culture and history, supported by classic style and ideals.
The new hotel will include 273 guestrooms and suites in its 44-story tower. Its sky bridge will offer panoramic views of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf from a restaurant and bar, and six meeting rooms across its two floors. In addition, the Hotel will feature a ballroom and pre-function space. The urban Hotel will have a resort-style feel, according to the company, with expansive gardens, a state-of-the art spa offering both co-ed and separate female facilities, and multiple pool experiences. The hotel will offer seven dining and beverage venues.
