NEW YORK—Hyatt Hotels Corporation opened Hyatt Times Square New York, the seventh hotel to be added to the Hyatt-branded portfolio in Manhattan. The 487-room hotel stands 54 stories high, making it the tallest newly built, freestanding Hyatt hotel in the U.S.
This newest addition to Hyatt’s portfolio is also the third Hyatt-branded hotel to open in Manhattan in 2013. Located on West 45th Street, the hotel is situated near to the Times Square intersection on Broadway and Seventh Avenue. The hotel is also near to Broadway theaters, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center and flagship Fifth Avenue shops.
The George Wong-designed guestrooms offer an apartment-like feel with floor-to-ceiling windows. The décor juxtaposes neutral, light-toned fabrics and warm woods with brilliantly colored, city-themed art pieces, including a pop-art lounge chair created by a local artist.
With only 11 rooms per floor, the hotel also features 49 suites with large bathrooms featuring deep soaking tubs adjacent to rain-head showers. The hotel’s Premier Suite features a private terrace with views of the Manhattan cityscape. Notable in-room features are 47-in. flat screen TVs, ergonomic workspaces, in-room coffeemakers and refrigerators, and multiport connections to suit guests’ electronic/connectivity needs. All guests can also enjoy the 24-hour fitness center with cardio machines and free weights.
Slated to open in time for New Year’s Eve, the hotel’s George Wong-designed diner offers a setting for meals as well as take-out service. Additional Hyatt Times Square amenities and meeting spaces are scheduled to open by early 2014. The 4,200-sq.-ft. spa will feature a blowout bar, manicure and pedicure stations, signature massages and couples treatment rooms. The 2,000-sq.-ft. meeting center features pre-function areas and three adjacent rooms, each with a terrace and natural light as well as audiovisual facilities. The 54th floor rooftop lounge, designed by SPAN Architecture, offers river-to-river views and indoor/outdoor fireplaces.
