NEW YORK—LG Electronics USA has debuted its next generation of interactive TVs that interface with guests’ smartphones and tablets.
Michael Kosla, VP of hospitality sales for the company, noted that the new solution will be a focus for the company in 2014, as many hotels that refreshed their TV platforms 7-9 years ago are looking to refresh again.
The LP870H series LED Smart IPTVs are built around the Pro:Centric platform. Available in 42-, 47- and 55-in. class sizes, the edge-lit LP870H TVs feature a Full HD 1080p display in an ultra thin cabinet with a slim bezel. These Internet-connected TVs include an embedded web browser and interactive applications support. They also feature LG’s EcoSmart technology for reduced power consumption and improved energy savings.
Designed for “second screen” support, they include Wi-Di, Wi-Fi Direct and LG’s Smart Mirroring technologies, which are used to pair guests’ mobile devices. This enables guests to view their own content on the large LED screen—directly with the TV or via an imbedded application from a system integrator partner. The LP870H series is built around the enhanced Pro:Centric platform with support for Java, Flash and HTML software.
