DETROIT, MI—The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center will begin a $30-million renovation project in February 2014, which will take roughly one year to complete.
The renovation will consist of enhancements to 1,329 guestrooms and 100,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Guestroom renovations will begin in February 2014 and completed one year later while the meeting space renovation will begin in spring 2014, and is scheduled to be completed the next fall.
The 70-floor hotel will remain open throughout the project with a few floors undergoing reconstruction at a time.
According to the company, the new design will incorporate the city’s vibe and personality into the modern décor theme. It will consist of a color palette of neutrals and greys with teal accents. Photography of Detroit architectural landmarks will be displayed on the walls.
The new meeting rooms will feature a color palette of mauve, taupe, purple and brown, which are the same colors of sunset at Michigan beach. The ballroom and exhibit hall space will also undergo extensive remodeling to allow for greater functionality.
The renovation will also include an enhanced amenities package including a new line of personal care items, as well as new bedding and linens.
