MAYO, IRELAND—The Red Carnation Hotel Collection acquired luxury hotel Ashford Castle, located in the western region of Ireland.
“Ashford Castle is an iconic property, in a unique location and with a reputation for luxury and excellence, and we are delighted that we will be bringing some of Red Carnation’s signature touches to it,” said Beatrice Tollman, president and founder of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
The Red Carnation Hotel Collection plans to work with local suppliers and partners on a refurbishment program that will restore the hotel. The castle includes 83 bedrooms, dining room, bar, drawing room, private dining rooms, gardens and a spa. It also has a 9-hole golf course on the estate.
Ashford Castle was a Guinness family home from 1855 until 1939, when Ashford Castle became a leading hotel in the region. In 1970, it was acquired and developed by the well-known Irish-American John A. Mulcahy, who also developed one of the world’s top Links Golf Courses in Waterville. Ashford Castle now attracts visitors from around the world.
