ATLANTA, GA—Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG), based here, has assumed management of the 241-room Sheraton Read House in downtown Chattanooga, TN.

“Recently, HVMG was approved to third party manage Starwood brands including Luxury Collection, Westin and Sheraton so as 2013 progresses, we expect to add more upscale full-service Starwood properties to our portfolio,” said HVMG President/CEO Robert Cole in a statement.

HVMG now has a portfolio of 42 hotels across 17 states. It has more than doubled the size of its portfolio since the beginning of 2010.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Read House was built in 1927 and has hosted a long list of dignitaries and celebrities including Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Al Capone and Oprah Winfrey. The 10-story brick and terra cotta hotel was built in the Georgian style and adorned with appointments such as carved and gilded woodwork, and Waterford chandeliers.

The hotel features renovated guestrooms with the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed and Drexel Heritage furniture, 19,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a new exercise facility, a new indoor heated pool, a private Club level/lounge, a 24-hour business center, a Starbucks and Porter’s Steakhouse serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
