Omni Hotels & Resorts acquired and rebranded the Westin in Providence, RI, making it part of its Convention Collection.

PROVIDENCE, RI—Omni Hotels & Resorts, which recently acquired The Westin Hotel here from The Procaccianti Group, rebranded it as the Omni Providence Hotel.

The property will be managed by Omni Hotels Management Corp.

Located downtown, the 564-room hotel will be part of Omni’s expanding Convention Collection of hotels. The nearly 700,000-sq.-ft., mixed-use development is connected to the Rhode Island Convention Center and the Providence Place Mall. The development features three food and beverage outlets, including a Fleming’s Steak House.
“We are pleased to add this premier property to our Convention Collection hotel portfolio and enhance our offerings along the Eastern seaboard,” said Mike Deitemeyer, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to working with the city and CVB, and serving as a leader in the marketplace for years to come.”
According to the company, the acquisition aligns with Omni’s growth strategy for its Convention Collection. This portfolio includes the Omni Nashville Hotel, set to open this year; the Omni Dallas Hotel, the Omni Fort Worth Hotel, the Omni San Diego Hotel, the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta and the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
The property will undergo renovations later this year to reflect the local flavor of Providence, with a focus on the arrival experience, meetings space and guestrooms.

Josh Heidenreich, the former general manager of the Omni New Haven Hotel in Connecticut, will serve as the new GM of the hotel.
