MIAMI, FL—Strategic Hotels & Resorts is investing $30 million in improvements to the InterContinental Miami, set to debut this fall.
The updates will include a digital canvas made up of thousands of LED lights, which will be visible from miles away. The display will highlight current affairs and community events, with guests and the general public able to curate content through social media.
In addition, the InterContinental Miami’s entrance area will be fully renovated, complete with customizable lighting and sound, a Times Square-style LED marquee and touchscreen coffee tables that will enable guests to order cocktails, book dinner reservations and more. There will also be a real-time video display of Biscayne Bay.
Each of the hotel’s 641 guestrooms and suites will be remodeled by tennis star Venus Williams’ design firm, V Starr Interiors. The redesign will encompass new bedding, linens, bathroom fixtures, wallpaper and motorized window treatments. Upgrades have also been made to the hotel’s corridors, meeting spaces and other public areas.
The Intercontinental Miami will also be adding Toro Toro, a Pan-Latin steakhouse, by chef Richard Sandoval. The restaurant is slated to open later this month.
