As we approach the holidays and the end of the year, it gives us pause to reflect on the past 12 months. For the industry, it was a year of progress to be sure, albeit slow and steady.
For those of us at HOTEL BUSINESS®, the year was marked with progress that was a bit more pronounced. Not only did our publication further enhance its leadership position in terms of market share, but our editorial team continued to demonstrate its expertise with a vertitable “whos who” of industry exclusives.
During the calendar year, we featured cover stories such luminaries as Bill Marriott, Jr. of Marriott International; Gary Tharaldson of Tharaldson Executive Management; Frits van Paasschen and Simon Turner of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide; C.K. Patel of AAHOA; Bjorn Hanson of New York University; Kathleen Taylor of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts; and most recently Raul Leal, Paul Whetsell and Anthony Marino of Virgin Hotels.
In fact, this issue along offers profiles of executives like Choice’s Steve Joyce, Best Western’s David Kong, Wyndham’s Eric Danziger and La Quinta’s Raj Trivedi to name a few who were part of our People to Watch in 2011.
With this issue, you will be receiving the 2011 Hotel Business Green Book and while it features a fresh new design concept on the cover, the content on the pages within the issue is the same detailed, updated info that you have relied on for years.
Hotel Business continues to provide the most comprehensive and statistically valid lists to the industry, including management companies, owners and developers and brands, for example.
As impressive as 2010 was, we’re looking to trump it in 2011, beginning with the upcoming ALIS issue. We’ve already lined up a number of exclusive interviews and are planning insightful trend stories for the coming year that will continue to separate us from the competition.
In addition to our comprehensive print coverage, Hotel Business continues to focus on providing the latest news and information online with both our website and through our daily email. In fact, we will soon be enhancing the daily email with additional graphics to be more visually appealing.
As we head into 2011 and our 20th year at Hotel Business, we expect to have plenty of positive industry news to report on as we all hope the industry turnaround continues. However, whatever the nature of the story, we will be there to cover it. We thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best during this holiday season.
