Banyan Makes Two Key Appointments

MIRAMAR BEACH, FL—Banyan Investment Group, based here, has appointed Lloyd Crabtree as SVP of operations and Mike Wells as director of finance.
Crabtree’s new role will include responsibility for directing operations at the company’s portfolio of 18 properties in Georgia and Florida. Prior to this, he served as Banyan’s VP of finance and asset management since mid-2012. With more than 25 years of experience, Crabtree has also held management positions with InterContinental Hotels Group, Westmont Hospitality Group and Tattersall Companies. He earned an undergraduate degree in accounting at Georgia State University and is a certified public accountant and a certified hospitality accounting executive.
Wells joins Banyan with extensive hospitality accounting experience, working for companies such as Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort and ResortQuest International. He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and his master degree in executive management from Florida State University. In addition, Wells is a part-time professor of graduate accounting courses at the University of Arkansas and University of Phoenix.
Crabtree works at Banyan’s office in Atlanta, while Wells is located at the company’s headquarters office.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
