MCLEAN, VA—Hampton Hotels opened 27 new hotels between April and June, bringing the total to 49 openings in first-half 2013.
The second quarter marked Hampton’s entry into new global markets, including the Netherlands and Romania, as well in the Southern region of the United States, with 15 openings there. Hampton expects to add nearly 50 hotels globally by year's end, according to the company.
Openings in Q2 included 10 Hampton Inns, 13 Hampton Inn & Suites and four Hampton by Hilton hotels totaling 2,925 guestrooms.
European expansion continues to be a focus and the Hampton by Hilton brand debuted in both Romania and the Netherlands in Q2.
In the United States, 22 hotels opened across 14 states and Washington, D.C. In addition, Hampton Hotels partnered with Homewood Suites by Hilton to open the first dual-branded hotel in downtown Denver. The adaptive-reuse project was formerly an Excel Energy office building. The property is located near the Colorado Convention Center and the 16th St. Mall.
