GREENPORT, NY—The Harborfront Inn, a luxury boutique hotel, has opened its newest venture, Kontokosta Winery. The first Long Island vineyard with a tasting room overlooking the Long Island Sound, Kontokosta Winery is set on 62 acres in Greenport.
The Harborfront Inn features 35 guestrooms and suites overlooking the Peconic Bay. Other onsite amenities include an outdoor heated pool, fitness room, two private function rooms and complimentary wireless Internet access. The Harborfront Inn’s central location in downtown Greenport puts guests within walking distance of the town’s quaint shops, restaurants and historic attractions.
The new winery, designed as a modern interpretation of a 19th-century New England barn, features a tasting room and winemaking facility. Varietals planted include cabernet franc, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, Syrah, Viognier, sauvignon blanc and Riesling. The wines will be sold from the winery only, which has been producing wine since 2006.
