Atira Hotels Appoints New GM at Freeport Hampton Inn

FREEPORT, IL—Michael Smith has joined the Atira Hotels team as the new general manager of Freeport Hampton Inn, bringing with him over 10 years of hospitality experience. Before joining Atira, Michael worked as general manager of Baymont Inn and Suites of Naperville and previously managed Days Inn of Rockford, Comfort Inn of Rockford, and Exel Inn of Cedar Rapids.
Smith will guide Hampton Inn of Freeport as further improvements are made to this historical building built in 1928. The Hampton Inn now features the new Main Street Bistro run by Chef Craig Perkins. Tammy Huling, previous general manager in Freeport, has been promoted to managing another Atira Hotels property, the Hyatt House in Schaumburg, IL.
In addition to his management experience, Smith also served the United States as a soldier in the Army National Guard and served in Iraq for over a year.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China.
