GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS—Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is planning to manage a 263-room hotel here, its first resort in the Caribbean.
Kimpton was granted the management contract from developer Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd. The property will be Grand Cayman’s first design-driven, boutique-style hotel, as well as the first new development on Seven Mile Beach in 10 years.
The property, which features a team of SB Architects and interiors from Powerstrip Studio and Mark Zeff Design, is slated to open in 2016. It will offer five restaurants and lounges, a cascading oceanfront pool, indoor and outdoor meeting and function space and a spa.
The design will carry out a rustic-yet-polished theme, following the island’s casual nature, according to the company. Natural landscaping from EDSA will be featured on the property, with native flora as well as gardens and green spaces.
