First Holiday Inn Resort to Open in Japan

TOKYO—IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan and Aoshima Resort Co., Ltd. have entered into a franchise partnership that will rebrand the Miyazaki Aoshima Palmbeach Hotel as the ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki, the first Holiday Inn Resort in Japan. The hotel will commence operation this month and will rebrand by October.
Located near the Pacific Ocean, the 214-room hotel has six restaurants, seven function room and other resort facilities, such as a hot springs and an indoor pool.
Nearby attractions include Kodomono Kuni, a theme park, golf courses and other leisure sites in the Aoshima area.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
