Umstead Hotel to Reopen Spa Following Renovation

CARY, NC—Following a three-month renovation, the Umstead Hotel and Spa here will reopen The Umstead Spa July 8.
The expansion brings the spa’s total area to 16,000 sq. ft. of relaxation and treatment space, spanning two floors. Natural elements—river rock, granite, bamboo—have been integrated throughout. New textiles, locally crafted pottery and artwork also enhance the design.
A focus of the spa renovation has been to heighten the couples’ experience through new facilities and programming. Upon the spa’s reopening, couples will have access to three dedicated treatment rooms, each with a private deep-soaking tub, plus a new coed relaxation lounge.
Another significant change will be expanded access for spa guests to the hotel’s swimming pool and fitness center, which previously were open only to overnight guests of the hotel. Both facilities will be available Monday through Thursday to spa guests who spend more than $100 on treatments.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China.
