ATLANTA—Hotel Equities has promoted Carlos Melgar to the position of VP of Finance. Melgar has been with the company since 2008, when he was named corporate controller to oversee the firm’s accounting and financial functions.
In his new position, he reports directly to HE President & CEO Fred Cerrone, and serves as a key member of the Hotel Equities’ leadership team. Melgar’s focus at the hotel development and management company is strategic business growth and development, and his responsibilities include interaction with the capital markets and functional leadership of treasury, legal, accounting, risk management and information technology.
Melgar has spent more than 14 years in financial analytics in the lodging industry. Before the move to Hotel Equities, he served six years as SVP, controller and asset manager for Premier Hotel Corporation, a full-service management company based in Atlanta. Previously, he worked as the senior analyst for Six Continents Hotels, supporting Holiday Inn Express, CrownePlaza and all of their franchise operations in Mexico. Before that, he spent two years as the Senior Analyst with the southeast regional office of Choice Hotels International.
