LOS ANGELES—Ascend Hotel Collection opened its 100th hotel, reaching the milestone in less than five years.
Since the Collection, which is umbrellaed by Choice Hotels International, was founded in 2008, Ascend has quintupled in size, adding hotels on three continents and five countries. Thus far this year, the Collection has opened 30 hotels.
“Travelers are looking for unique hotels and authentic local experience, and that’s exactly Ascend Hotel Collection delivers,” said Michael Murphy, SVP/upscale brands at Choice. “The portfolio is an all-around win, with strong appeal to travelers, developers and independent hotels.”
Ascend’s 100th property is the Hotel Elan, the portfolio’s first in Calgary, Canada. The property has 62 guestrooms, including one- and two-bedroom suites. The hotel also includes a fitness center and two meeting rooms..
