IHG Adds to Board

UNITED KINGDOM—InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG) has appointed Jill McDonald as an independent non-executive director of IHG. She will join the IHG Board effective June 1.
McDonald has been CEO and president for the Northern Europe Division for McDonald’s since September 2010 and was SVP, Chief Marketing Officer UK & Northern Division from 2006 to 2010. Previously, Jill spent 16 years with British Airways and held a number of senior marketing positions in the UK and overseas.
Jill will also serve on the Audit and Nomination Committees of the IHG Board.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
