Best Western Premier Opens in Haiti

PETION-VILLE, HAITI—The Best Western Premier Pétion-Ville, the first branded hotel in Haiti, has opened. Located in the suburb of Port-au-Prince, in close proximity to the international airport, this is the first full-service corporate, Haitian-owned hotel with a United States chain affiliation.
Designed by Kellie Sirna and Stacy Elliston of Studio 11 Design, the hotel features a contemporary boutique atmosphere. The property's 106 guestrooms, including three spacious Imperial and Executive Suites, incorporate chic design and local art along with high-speed Internet and personalized service, including private butler service, according to the firm. The rooms overlook panoramic views of the mountains, the city and some have views of the ocean.
The lobby bar and restaurants offer options for casual meetings. Four meeting rooms, including a board room, offer venues for six to 200 people. Onsite features include a full service spa, swimming pool and fitness center, an innovative lobby bar, gourmet international restaurant Le Michel and a whisky bar.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
