WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV—The Greenbrier named Webb Simpson, winner of the 2012 U.S. Open golf championships, to its team of professional golfers representing the resort.
Simpson will represent the resort by displaying The Greenbrier logo on his golf bag while participating in all professional golf tournaments, pro-am golf events and public golf exhibitions.
The Greenbrier, which will host the fourth annual Greenbrier Classic, a PGA TOUR FedEx Cup event played on its historic Old White TPC course, from July 1-7, has long been a destination golf retreat with close associations with noted golf players, including Nick Faldo, Tom Fazio, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead, who made The Greenbrier his home for more than 60 years and after whom The Greenbrier Sporting Club's private members-only course is named.
"I couldn't be more excited to have Webb Simpson, a bright young star on the PGA TOUR who embodies everything that The Greenbrier stands for, represent The Greenbrier," said Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier.
