PANAMA CITY, PANAMA–The 248-room Waldorf Astoria Panama has opened here, marking the luxury brand's debut in Latin America. The hotel is located in close proximity to Calle Uruguay in the heart of the city's entertainment district. It is 20 minutes to the Panama Canal and 25 minutes from the international airport. The property features 3,500 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, a 20,000 sq. ft. full-service spa, a 20,000 sq. ft. fitness center and a variety of destination restaurants and lounges. The Miami-based design firm of Ba-Haus/KNF was responsible for the hotel's interiors. The most recent NYU Conference, earlier this month proved, once and for all, that the lodging industry has finally turned the corner and happy days are, indeed, here again.
