NEW YORK—Highgate Hotels and FelCor Lodging Trust, Inc. named industry veteran Jeff David managing director for the Knickerbocker Hotel here.
David will lead the Times Square hotel, which originally opened in 1906, through an initial repositioning phase before its reopening as a 330-room lifestyle boutique hotel in 2014.
David started his career at the Four Seasons Regent Beverly Wilshire in Los Angeles then moved to the Four Seasons Boston. Additionally, he served as the food and beverage director at Rosewood Hotels and Resort’s Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, as well as GMr of several New England properties, including the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod, MA, and The Chanler at Cliffwalk in Newport, RI.
He also has managed independent hotels and worked for Los Angeles-based Viceroy Hotel Group, serving at properties in California, Colorado and the British West Indies.
Most recently, David served as general manager of the Viceroy Anguilla, helping open and operate the $550 million flagship property.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
