Westin to Open 200th Hotel in 2013

STAMFORD, CT—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. plans to open its 200th Westin hotel in 2013.
Westin will open 11 new hotels this year, primarily in international markets including China, India, Singapore and Panama.
Seven of these hotels will be in Asia-Pacific, increasing the brand’s portfolio to nearly 50 hotels in the region by year’s end. New hotels in China will include The Westin Haikou, The Westin Sanya Haitang Bay Resort, The Westin Chongqing Liberation Square and The Westin Qingdao. Westin will also open The Westin Chennai Velachery in India and The Westin Singapore Marina Bay.
The Opening of The Westin Panama will increase the Westin portfolio in Latin America to 11 hotels spanning five countries: Panama, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
Westin will also add four new hotels in North America, including The Westin Birmingham, a new-build. The Westin Houston Downtown, The Westin Sacramento and The Westin San Jose—all conversions—will open following renovations.
