NEW YORK–The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International has awarded its annual Adrian Awards to recognize achievement in hospitality advertising, digital marketing and public relations. This year, Roger Dow, president & CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, was awarded the Albert Koehl Award for Advertising, while Howard Feiertag of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute was the recipient of the Winthrop Grice Award for Public Relations. In addition, HSMAI named the Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales & Marketing. Of the 25, 12 represented sales and marketing executives at 11 hotel companies. The companies included Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide, Wyndham Hotel Group, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Red Roof Inn, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, IHG, Best western International and Hostmark Hospitality Group. The most recent NYU Conference, earlier this month proved, once and for all, that the lodging industry has finally turned the corner and happy days are, indeed, here again. While the economists and pundits all provided plenty of anecdotal evidence to bear that out in terms of supply and demand ratios, RevPAR projections, asset values and all the other metrics, that’s not what has me convinced.
