GAITHERSBURG, MD—The Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center is adding a new ballroom. The Lakeside Ballroom will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a private terrace overlooking the lake that anchors the Rio Washingtonian Center shopping, dining and entertainment complex. “The new ballroom embraces the natural beauty that surrounds Gaithersburg Marriott. When the Lakeside Ballroom is completed in March, no other venue in the region will rival its sophisticated charm and exclusive amenities,” says Sara Moore, general manager, Gaithersburg Marriott. DesignONE studio of Atlanta, GA, envisioned an organic meeting and event space that flows seamlessly between a 672-sq.-ft. pre-function space, 2,700-sq.-ft. ballroom and 2,000-sq.-ft. outdoor terrace. Deep tones of rust, amber and chocolate accentuate a leaf pattern in the floor covering. Translucent petals float in chandeliers arranged in a coffered ceiling. Walls are adorned with light-reflecting acrylic panels.
