CESME, TURKEY–Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts plans to open a 146-room resort here on the coast of Izmir Province in 2016. The Four Seasons Resort Cesme will be owned by Dilek Gayrimenkul Yatirim ve Turizm A.S. and operated by Toronto-based Four Seasons under a long-term management agreement. Four Seasons already operates two hotels in Turkey, both in Istanbul, including the Four Seasons Istanbul at the Bosphorus (pictured), a converted 19th century Ottoman palace. The most recent NYU Conference, earlier this month proved, once and for all, that the lodging industry has finally turned the corner and happy days are, indeed, here again. While the economists and pundits all provided plenty of anecdotal evidence to bear that out in terms of supply and demand ratios, RevPAR projections, asset values and all the other metrics, that’s not what has me convinced.
