New GM Named for COMO Hotels and Resorts

SINGAPORE—COMO Hotels and Resorts, a part of the COMO Group, headquartered here, has named Paul Linder as GM for the company’s adventure retreat, Uma by COMO, Ubud and its wellness resort, COMO Shambhala Estate, both located in central Bali.
Linder comes to COMO from Chiva-Som in Thailand, where he was GM for more than 10 years.
He also held senior management positions at The Shilla Hotel Seoul, The Oriental in Bangkok and Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
