Miami Hospitality Jobs Up 3.9% YOY

MIAMI—Greater Miami's accommodations and foodservice jobs increased 3.9% in September compared to the same period in 2011. According to the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, this marks two years and nine months of consecutive increased employment in Greater Miami's accommodations and foodservice industry.
In September 100,700 people were employed in the sector compared to 96,900 in the year-ago period in the area.

When you hear all the lodging industry projections for the months and years to come, much of the robust growth is forecast to be the result of the expected influx of travelers from China. In what could only be seen as good news for the industry, that expectation moved a little closer to reality when President Obama signed a visa waiver extension for Chinese travelers earlier this month.
