SAN DIEGO—The Keating hotel here opened its new signature restaurant, Brick+Mortar. Located in the Gaslamp Quarter, The Keating is Brick+Mortar’s first San Diego outpost, the restaurant’s second location and the fifth restaurant for owners Justin Safier and Travis Lester of Brosephs Restaurant Group. “The decision to open a restaurant in my hometown, San Diego, was a natural one. We knew The Keating would be a perfect fit immediately upon visiting and seeing the high standard of service guests are shown,” said Lester. “The historic brick structure of the building provides great character, not to mention an excellent central location.”
After viewing The Keating on a recent episode of Gordon Ramsay’s "Hotel Hell," Lester and Safier were intrigued by the similarities between The Keating building and the Brick+Mortar design concept.
“We realized The Keating was the perfect home for a San Diego Brick+Mortar,” said Justin Safier. “We approached (owner) Eddie Kaen with our hotel food and beverage concept and discovered that it would be a perfect fit for all involved.” The restaurant will incorporate elements of a neighborhood bar in a chic way, while serving modern American fare, according to the company.
