WATERTOWN, NY—The 103-room Fairfield Inn & Suites Watertown Thousand Islands is scheduled to open here Aug. 31. The hotel, which is owned by Thousand Islands Hospitality and will be managed by Hemisphere Management, represents the first Marriott property within a 35-mile radius of Watertown. The property is located five miles from the Watertown International Airport and approximately five minutes from downtown.

The most recent NYU Conference, earlier this month proved, once and for all, that the lodging industry has finally turned the corner and happy days are, indeed, here again. While the economists and pundits all provided plenty of anecdotal evidence to bear that out in terms of supply and demand ratios, RevPAR projections, asset values and all the other metrics, that’s not what has me convinced.
