COLUMBUS, OH—The Hilton Columbus Downtown, which is currently under construction, is set to debut here this fall, the only newly constructed Hilton scheduled to open in 2012. The 532-room property will feature 48 suites and 31,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. The property will incorporate more than 150 pieces of artwork from local artists, with a painting or photograph serving as the focal point of every guestroom. A pedestrian bridge will connect the hotel to the Greater Columbus Convention Center across the street. The bridge will feature a glass walking surface supported by steel tubing. Additionally, the property is being built to attain LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Hilton Columbus Downtown features a 33% reduction in energy and carbon usage. As part of its recycling program, the hotel will use regional materials with recycled content, offer dual-flush toilets and low-flow fixtures, as well as individual guestroom lighting and thermal control.
