RICHMOND, VA—Management company Shamin Hotels has added three new hotels to the Richmond International Airport here; a Hilton Garden Inn, a Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn. These hotels join three other Shamin Hotels properties at the airport; a Homewood Suites, a Wingate Inn (set to be a Holiday Inn Express by the first week in June) and a Comfort Inn. Richmond International Airport has seen 34 consecutive months of growth, noted Neil Amin, CEO/Shamin Hotels. The new, six-story, 80,886-squarefoot Hilton Garden Inn features 130 rooms and a 2,365-square-foot ballroom. Amenities include an indoor pool with a spa, a fitness center, and a lobby bar with lounge area adjacent to a full-service restaurant. The five-story, full-service Holiday Inn features 143 rooms and a 3,135-square-foot ballroom. It also offers a full-service restaurant, a lobby bar, in-room dining, a fitness center, a business center and an indoor pool. The five-story Hampton Inn features 104 rooms. a business center, a fitness center and an indoor. Shamin Hotels operates more than 20 hotel properties in the state and has 14 hotels in development. The most recent NYU Conference, earlier this month proved, once and for all, that the lodging industry has finally turned the corner and happy days are, indeed, here again. While the economists and pundits all provided plenty of anecdotal evidence to bear that out in terms of supply and demand ratios, RevPAR projections, asset values and all the other metrics, that’s not what has me convinced.
