Value Place Chairman and industry pioneer Jack DeBoer poses with his portrait at the Hunter Conference.
ATLANTA—The Hunter Hotel Investment Conference named extended-stay lodging pioneer Jack DeBoer the recipient of its fourth annual Award for Excellence & Inspiration.
DeBoer is well known in the industry for creating four extended-stay brands in the past 38 years: Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites, Candlewood Suites and Value Place. DeBoer remains chairman of Value Place, which is based in Wichita, KS.
Mike Depatie, president/CEO of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurant Group, presented DeBoer with the award. In accepting, DeBoer explained how he was a developer of rental garden apartment complexes whose interest evolved into residential-style hotels designed for longer-term stays.
The award, a framed oil painting of DeBoer and a video about his career were provided courtesy of Hotel Business, a media sponsor of the Hunter Conference
