NEW YORK—On the heels of recent W Hotel openings in Singapore and Bangkok, W Hotels Worldwide plans to more than double its Asian presence by the end of 2018. This will bring the portfolio up to nearly 20 hotels and retreats in nine countries in the region.

More than half of the W brand’s global pipeline is slated for Asia-Pacific, including the first W Hotel in mainland China, the 317-key W Guangzhou Hotel & Residences, opening later this month. Future additions will also include the 340-key W Beijing-Chang’an, 330-room W Changsha and 600-room W Shanghai-The Bund in 2014; the 105-key W Retreat & Spa Goa and 325-key W Mumbai in 2015; 581-room W Noida-Delhi NCR, 300-room W Jakarta and 150-key W Kuala Lumpur in 2016; and 225-key W Delhi NCR-Gurgaon WTC and 366-room W Suzhou in 2017.

The W brand first entered Asia in 2004 with the opening of W Seoul-Walkerhill. Since then, W Hotels has expanded with eight hotels in seven countries, including properties in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Maldives and Hong Kong.
