NEW YORK–The 211-suite Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/Midtown East has opened on East 48th St.
The upscale extended-stay property is the second Residence Inn in Manhattan, joining the Residence Inn that's part of a mixed-use development on the West Side at Sixth Ave. & 38th St. The new hotel is a conversion of the former Helmsley Middletowne Hotel, which was in operation from 1928 until mid-2010. Its Midtown East location is in close proximity to Grand Central Station, the United Nations and numerous corporate headquarters.
Residence Inn currently has more than 600 properties open in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Central America.
