Guestroom at the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto

TORONTO–The design of the new 202-room Shangri-La Hotel Toronto pairs traditional Asian elements with a contemporary sensibility.

CHIL Design and McFarlane and Biggar were responsible for the design. A giant sculpture by the contemporary Chinese sculptor Zhang Huan greets guests in the luxury hotel's lobby. Large calligraphy paintings also decorate the space. Raw silk wall coverings and replicas of antique Chinese chairs are used in guestrooms as is the highly polished wood, occasionally carved in intricate patterns, often associated with Asian interiors.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts owns and/or manages 78 hotels under the Shangri-La, Kerry and Traders brands.
