SAN ANTONIO, TX—The Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group plans to open a 146-room boutique hotel next year in an adaptive reuse of an 1881-era former brewery.

The brewery was known as the Pearl. A name for the hotel hasn't been finalized. The hotel, which Kimpton will manage but not own, will be part of a downtown mixed-use project that features dining, retail and two educational institutes in addition to the hotel.

The hotel will be San Francisco-based Kimpton's third property in Texas. Kimpton already operates two properties in Dallas. The company currently operates 58 hotels and 67 restaurants and lounges in 24 cities.
